Create shot list

Now we are starting to develop more technical things, beginning with the shots. I researched what my genre mostly focuses on regarding shots and the most used shots are mid shot, close up, and extreme close are the most used shots the reason for this is to allow the audience to relate to the character since the viewer sees the facial expressions and feelings of the character. I also want to implement long shots, two shots and if possible, an establishing shot and tracking shot. Here is the intended shot list

Shot

scene

medium shot

Beach background individuals

Tracking shot

Following walking character down beach

Close up

Character emotion

Two shots

Character approached by female character and conversation (short scene)

Close up

Another close for emotion

medium shot

On bus

Long shot

Long shot back at beach

Medium shot

Same exact situation as first on (intended to show repetition)

Repeat

These steps will repeat to show constant things in characters life

medium shot

Character finally walking towards people

 Develop film/editing schedule.

Time to start making a schedule for filming and editing! I have an idea as to what I want to do since spring break is going to come up soon, I want to record during that to be available to film at various times whether that is at night or in the morning or afternoon but if opportunities open then I will want to instead film then. And editing wisely, I want to edit as soon as filming starts so that in case, I am not happy with a shot. I can go back to the setting refilm and re-edit to improve. Here is a chart representing the projected schedule I would like to follow.

 Developing a script

Starting now the script progress has started so I have begun researching how to build a script that will fulfill my intended targets. To begin I began by looking through the internet on how a successful script could be formed this being through various steps of creating, revising, and altering. The overall main purpose of my film opening is to create a connection between the main character and the viewer so for the script itself. I want it to go something like small conversations with the main character just blocking out everyone and talking to himself. The script will also partake of 3 main characters. The main character is his best friend, and a girl tries to interact with the main character. I still need to add more to the script, and it is not fully developed but it should be done some time soon.

Developing story and finalizing my film opening idea

I am now developing the full story and the film opening idea. I have put thought into it and decided that the story will remain the same, it will be about a teenager in Florida that tries to socialize during the summer with people but due to his mental health issues most specifically his battle with depression he struggles to socialize. Then for the opening of the film I want to begin by slowly zooming out of the character showing him sitting along the beach while other people in his age group are horsing around in the background this will be done to show that the character feels lonely in a way afterwards in the same shot the main character will stand up and walk away i hope to cause an effect on the viewer to feel as if he has left his problems for later. Afterwards I want to show signs that he struggles to socialize by making individuals say hi to him, but he is blocking himself. Although it seems like a boring start, I want to capture bright colors to show the happiness around him but give him dark colors to show how he is blocked out through the use of misce en scene. I also have intentions of adding background dialogue and music to add more emotion to the piece. I still need to add more but I hope the idea does follow through its all looking good for now
