The beginning of this project is here, to start it I selected the genre of psychological drama. But I want to discuss why I chose this genre in specific, using various research for example the notes and power point presentation we were shown in class. The various genre research also allowed me to investigate subgenres that took even more interest in me overall bringing the overall idea.
Various genres caught my interest but the one that stuck with me the most was psychological drama due to the idea that I have, and it would allow me to reach my intended audience. My intended audience will be teenagers who have struggled with social interaction, Emotional disorders, and overall fitting in. Phycological dramas or phycological thrillers are something that I must explore more to farther see if this is the genre I want to settle with.
I did some research on my selected genre so here is what I found that helped me out phycological dramas actually overlap into various genres for example crime, fantasy, phycological horror, and psychological thrillers the reason for this is usually to better focus on the viewers "experiences" and to better engage the actual emotional aspect of the characters. Now psychological dramas mostly focus on problems such as abandonment, coming of age issues, disabilities, human sexuality, social issues, mood swings, and more to better simple it out just problems having to do with of course the psychological aspect of a person. Here are some movies that used psychological drama as a genre.
1. A silent voice produced by kyoto animation (manga)
2. Fight club directed by David Fincher
I hope this idea will follow through to make it come to life in the way it was intended since it might get complicated to show the emotions of my main character in only two minutes! But I think I'm capable of doing it I guess we'll see.
